1) Risk of diabetes

Researches have proved that a glass of fruit juice a day could significantly increase a person’s risk of diabetes. An American study, followed by 70,000 nurses over a period of 18 years, has found that the women who had one glass of fruit juice daily increased their odds of developing Type 2 diabetes by 18%. Sarah Keogh, consultant dietitian at the Albany Clinic says that orange juice has a lot of natural sugar which comes into the blood stream much more quickly and can affect insulin levels.

2) Orange juice is worse than bottled water

In a recent survey about the effects of bottled water and orange juice, held at Tree Hugger, the orange juice was found to yield worse results than bottled water. It showed that while drinking bottled water is bad, orange juice was even worse. Studies revealed that every liter of water, that is used to make bottled water sold in stores, creates a total of 0.55 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, while every liter of orange juice used in breakfasts generates 1.98 pounds.

3) It affects colorectal health

Orange juice induces acidity in the colon and causes hemorrhoids. Donna from Jersey city, New Jersey, reports that drinking orange juice affects the

colorectal health.

4) Orange juice can cause tooth decay

By nature, orange juice is acidic and so it can cause tooth decay and other problems in the mouth, if mouth is not rinsed well with water after drinking orange juice. Acidity contained in orange juice affects the enamel of the teeth.

Researches by YanFang Ren and his team from University of Rochester Medical Centre determined that the acid contained in orange juice is so strong that it decreases tooth enamel hardness by 84 percent and it literally washes away the tooth.

5) Excess drink of orange juice may lead to obesity

Orange juice is fairly high in calories and contains sugar content. Drinking excess canned orange juice may increase calories and ultimately cause obesity.

6) Danger from carbon dioxide used in orange juice

In most parts of the world, orange juice is considered a sort of luxury and this commercial beverage is prepared with carbon dioxide, not caring about its evil effects.

7) Too much of orange juice causes kidney stone

Orange juice is known to contain a high percentage of Vitamin C which helps building up immunity. But too much of drinking orange juice may result in more iron absorption, increasing the risk of iron poisoning. Increased consumption of Vitamin C may cause increased absorption of calcium which can result in the formation of kidney stones.

8) It affects pregnant women

Pregnant women are suggested to consume some juices in moderation. Although orange juice contains fiber which pregnant women need very much, too much of orange juice consumption may lead to tooth decay which affects the baby also. Also it can result in heart burn or gastrointestinal discomfort.
